Nursing Duties
- Provides clinic nursing care and delegation of clinical duties to LPN’s and MA’s while in clinic.
- Aids in physical examinations, medication administration, wound care, and other nursing procedures.
- Performs clinic laboratory testing and procedural testing according to clinic protocols.
- Reports findings to physician and documents on patient medical record.
- Sets up and completes procedures under the direction of MD, APN, or PA.
- Develops and implements patient plan of care with MD, APN, and/or PA.
- Captures and revises patient plan of care to maximize physician productivity and minimize wait times.
- Schedules follow-up patient activities such as radiology studies, surgical procedures, and other testing.
- Prepares for upcoming clinics by gathering history from referring physicians, pertinent radiologic studies, laboratory results, and operative reports.
- Communicates with call center, patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ensures accurate, current, and safe nursing procedures through appropriate supervision of clinical personnel.
- Fulfills role as liaison between healthcare facilities and other specialty agencies.
- Functions as primary or backup nurse as directed.
- Serves as a resource to departmental staff.
- Performs duties in other Divisions as assigned.
Administrative Duties
- Completes charge tickets for nursing services provided in the clinic.
- Ensures tests and surgeries are precertified according to insurance requirements.
- Participates in the development of policies, procedures, and systems supporting patient safety and quality care.
- Maintains or delegates inventory of supplies necessary for daily clinic activities.
- Attends and participates in departmental/divisional staff meetings.
Research Duties
- Assists with planning and implementing research projects related to patient care.
- Follows research protocols when conducting patient research, including obtaining informed consent and documenting patient care according to protocol or clinic standards.
- Collects and analyzes data and assists with publishing results as needed.
Qualifications
- Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in Illinois.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with others as a member of multiple disciplinary teams.
- Problem-solving abilities.
- Adaptability.
- Excellent customer service skills.
