About the role
The Clinic Nurse plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal experience and recovery of patients across all surgeons at The Plastics Clinic & Spa. This position supports individuals through both pre-operative and post-operative care journeys, working closely with patients to ensure their comfort, safety, and satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Pre-Operative Appointments:
- Conduct pre-operative appointments, including vital sign monitoring, accurate charting, measurement for garments, verification of implant sizes, confirmation of lab results, and comprehensive consent reviews.
- Provide patient instructions and capture preoperative photos.
- Prepare surgical packets and transmit them to the appropriate surgical center.
- Ensure delivery of prescribed medications to the pharmacy.
- Identify any medical history or concerns not previously detected during consultations.
- Post-Operative Appointments:
- Administer post-operative care, including vital sign assessments, detailed charting, photo documentation, wound care, dressing changes, drain and suture removal, and patient education on recovery.
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients.
- Maintain patient privacy and dignity while building trust and confidence.
- Nurse Duties:
- Oversee the status of blood work, PCP clearances, and other tests as directed by the physician.
- Follow through and follow up with patients to ensure all necessary labs are completed before pre-operative appointments.
- Complete FMLA paperwork within a week of the initial phone call.
- Room Management:
- Prepare clinic rooms at the start of each day, including setting up lights, TV, white noise machines, and confirming supply availability.
- Maintain cleanliness and stock levels throughout the day.
- Close clinic rooms at the end of the day, including cleaning, turning off devices, disposing of waste, restocking, and disinfecting surfaces.
- Communication:
- Promptly address messages on Symplast and Weave.
- Follow up on commitments and patients under your care.
- Communicate patient concerns or personal matters to the Nurse Lead or management.
- Practice direct, assertive, and professional communication with kindness and honesty.
- Initiative & Accountability:
- Demonstrate proactive behavior in the absence of specific guidance.
- Identify and address tasks requiring attention.
- Maximize productivity during idle periods.
- Accept responsibility and accountability for errors or oversights.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) certification in the state of Utah.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a surgical office setting.
- Demonstrated professional demeanor and effective communication skills.
- Comfortable providing patient education on surgical procedures.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records for patient documentation.
- Willingness to adhere to all policies and procedures with a strong understanding of medical compliance.
