Clinic Nurse

About the role

The START Center for Cancer Research is seeking a Clinic Nurse to assist clinic providers with examination, evaluation, and triage of participants in research protocols. The role requires appropriate professional judgment and decision-making, adherence to standard operating procedures, and evidence-based standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform telephone triage assessments of patients on trial
• Provide patient education regarding participation in clinical trials, chemotherapy/immunotherapy/investigational agent administration, and potential side effects
• Enter patient history into the Electronic Medical Record based on records received and the patient provided history
• Perform basic patient assessment including physical exam, vital signs, ECGs, and other patient assessments as needed
• Document and take appropriate action as needed
• Ensure patients receive visits
• Coordinate patient care with internal and external staff
• Respond to emergency situations based on nursing judgment
• Cover Infusion Nurse as directed by management

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Licensed Registered Nurse in practicing state
• 1-year oncology experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, an AHA certificate
• Experience working with Microsoft Office, including Teams, Excel, Outlook, and Word

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN)
• ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate™ completed within the last 5 years or obtained within first year of employment
• Clinical Trials experience

Pay and Schedule

This position offers a pay range of $50/hr - $55/hr, based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity. Employees may be eligible for an annual bonus of up to 10% of base earnings.

Schedule

Work Schedule: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm EST, Monday - Friday or 4 x 10 depending on business need
