Clinic Lab Assistant Lake Mills FT Days

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and verify orders.
• Collect and process specimens, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Prepare, label, and process specimens, documenting accurately and adhering to infection control guidelines.
• Operate and maintain lab equipment, conducting quality control and proficiency testing.
• Verify lab orders and medical necessities, completing ABNs and correcting billing codes as needed.
• Enter and manage data in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), reviewing and correcting billing reports.
• Maintain supply inventory and communicate needs to supervisor.
• Communicate test procedures, results, and follow-up instructions to patients clearly and compassionately.
• Assist with clerical duties such as faxing, copying, filing, scheduling, and answering phone calls.
• Serve as a resource for colleagues and patients.
• Maintain aseptic techniques during preparation, procedures, and medication administration.
• Support cross-coverage needs throughout clinic/lab areas.
• Assist with various procedures, exams, and diagnostic equipment.

Requirements

• Comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
• Completion of medical terminology or phlebotomy training preferred.
• Previous laboratory or phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association or Red Cross required within 30 days of hire; must be maintained.
• Mandatory Reporter training for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse required within 3–6 months of hire; must be maintained.
• Proficient in basic computer skills (Windows environment, web-based navigation, email, MS Office).
• Able to work with diverse groups of people in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
• Must possess a personal presence that inspires and motivates others, characterized by honesty, integrity, and caring.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
