Clinic CMA

Position Overview

The Clinic CMA supports the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in medical and behavioral health settings by assisting providers and clinical staff to ensure efficient patient flow. This role performs routine administrative and clinical support tasks under the direction of licensed providers and contributes to a positive patient experience for all patients at the Family Health Center.

Essential Functions

• Prepare exam rooms and patients for provider visits, procedures, and treatments
• Collect and document medical histories, medications, vital signs, and other health information for provider review
• Auxiliary support during examinations and procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort
• Administer medications and perform clinical tasks as directed by licensed providers, in accordance with scope of practice, training, and Family Health Center policy
• Perform basic laboratory tests
• Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly communicate concerns to licensed providers or nursing staff
• Accurately document patient care activities, observations, and tasks in the electronic health record (EHR) in a timely manner
• Cook up referrals, prior authorizations and medication calls as needed
• Maintain neat and clean work and storage areas, specifically supplies
• Complies with all regulatory, state, and federal regulations as well as FHC policies and procedures
• Works within the score of a Certified Medical Assistant role and does not perform duties that require independent clinical judgement or licensure
• Obtains and maintains required competencies for the role
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Work-Related Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in primary care, mental health, or integrated healthcare setting preferred.

Physical

• Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and occasional lifting of patients or equipment (up to 20 lbs).
• Ability to perform repetitive motions, including typing for EHR documentation.
• Dexterity to perform hands-on procedures such as injections and diagnostic testing.
• Occasional exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and hazardous materials; adherence to infection control protocols is required.
• Prolonged sitting at a desk with frequent computer use.

Working Conditions

• Clinical environment with exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and emotionally challenging patient cases.

Education, Certification, and Licensure

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
• Certification: Current Medical Assistant certification required (e.g., CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent recognized credential)-must maintain active certification and required continuing education as applicable
• Licensure: Must have a valid driver's license

Pay Range

$18.25 per hour
