About the Role

Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center has an opening for a Senior Clinical Caseworker within the Adult Psychiatric Services unit. The center is a 348-bed Joint Commission accredited long-term care psychiatric hospital operated by the Missouri Department of Mental Health, providing adult inpatient mental health services and sex offender rehabilitation services. The role involves working as part of an interdisciplinary team using evidence-based treatment approaches.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical casework services to persons with mental illness and/or developmental or physical disabilities.
• Compile comprehensive case histories concerning clients’ social, environmental, and economic backgrounds for use by medical and professional treatment staff.
• Participate in admission, social diagnosis, prognosis, progress review, research, community placement, and aftercare planning with an interdisciplinary team and other service agencies.
• Evaluate the care and services provided to clients in terms of needs, functioning level, progress, and adherence to facility, state, or federal guidelines and regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field.
• Two years of professional experience in social work or a related field (substitutions may be allowed).
• Knowledge of social work practices, techniques, and ethics.
• Knowledge of medical and psychiatric diagnoses and their implications for treatment prognosis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma.
• Completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, or similar programs (for supervisory positions).
