Clinic Assistant
Req Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. 5 years experience in managing clinical operations in a healthcare setting or experience in a capacity precepting, mentoring, and/or leading clinical staff.
About the role
The Clinic Nurse Manager holds 24-hour accountability for the quality of patient care, efficiency of operations, and human resources management for assigned areas. They strive to achieve the optimal patient experience in a cost-effective manner while applying evidence-based leadership and practice. The Manager ensures the provision of safe patient care consistent with professional standards and hospital policies, promotes a positive and professional environment, and supervises charge nurses and front-line staff.
Manages all clinical operations of the Heart Transplant, Mechanical Circulatory Support, and Liver Program under the direction of the Transplant Administrator. Responsibilities include pre- and post-liver transplant management, pre- and post-heart transplant management, LVAD management, and oversight of transplant clinical supervisors. The role involves 24/7 oversight of the transplant program, directing nursing practice, education, and services, and serving as a contact for physicians, staff, and outside departments.
Additionally, the Manager identifies and pursues new business opportunities, develops strategic partnerships, drives revenue growth, and leads program marketing and brand development through multiple channels, including social media platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter.
Responsibilities
- Directly or indirectly supervises all subordinate staff, including recruiting, screening, hiring, orienting, and training.
- Evaluates employee performance, provides feedback, and makes recommendations for promotions, terminations, and salary decisions.
- Counsels, disciplines, and/or terminates employees as required.
- Trains clinical staff to ensure compliance with hospital policies and maintains staff records.
- Serves as a personal contact for physicians, staff, and outside departments to address problems, issues, or concerns.
- Directs and coordinates patient care programs, reviewing effectiveness and initiating corrective actions as needed.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation agency standards and prepares for inspections.
- Investigates and resolves incidents, complaints, or suggestions from physicians, patients, visitors, and staff.
- Oversees quality assurance programs for patient care and participates in policy formation and long-range planning.
- Develops and implements administrative policies and procedures, ensuring adherence and providing interpretation as needed.
- Develops and implements security-related procedures and coordinates activities with University Public Safety.
- Monitors and evaluates the quality and appropriateness of patient care, contributing objective data regarding staff performance.
- Assesses staff education needs and oversees the development of education programs.
- Administers the use of facilities, equipment, and space, including maintenance and repair.
- Communicates information, assignments, priorities, and special requests to staff, managing workload and follow-ups.
- Identifies and pursues new business opportunities, develops strategic partnerships, and drives revenue growth.
- Leads program marketing and brand development through social media and outreach events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Master’s Degree in Nursing may be in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree).
- 5 years of experience in managing clinical operations in a healthcare setting or experience precepting, mentoring, and/or leading clinical staff.
- Excellent people management skills and ability to motivate and challenge staff.
- Strong decision-making skills and high tolerance for frustration and ambiguity.
- Ability to bridge the gap between administrative demands and clinical needs.
- High skill and experience in process improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Nursing or in progress (strongly preferred).
- 1 year of experience in Transplant.
- 2 years of experience in an acute or ambulatory setting.
Licenses/Certifications
- Valid California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
- Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) – if no card upon hire, must be obtained within 30 days and maintained.
Pay
The annual base salary range for this position is $158,080.00 - $260,832.00.
