About the Role

Plan, direct, develop and coordinate activities of the clinic(s) to ensure attainment of corporate goals and objectives. Coordinate directly with the Managing Physicians to achieve the goals of the organization. Ensure proper implementation of policies and procedures related to Finance, Managed Health Care, Quality Assurance/Risk Management, Marketing, Purchasing, and Human Resources at the clinic level.

Responsibilities

  • Create a results-oriented work environment; delegate authority and responsibility to staff.
  • Participate in the formulation of a workable strategic plan; develop short-term and long-term goals for the clinic.
  • Identify and implement new methods, programs, policies, procedures, and techniques to improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Prepare and determine capacity analysis for the clinic; identify appropriate physician mix.
  • Provide direction and leadership to the management team within the clinic; interact with internal and external managers and groups.
  • Direct personnel in maintaining clinic standards; develop standards and guidelines for physical plans and equipment, including preventive maintenance, repair, and replacement.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Physician to assist the Medical Director and Department Chiefs in physician staffing and recruitment.
  • Determine and monitor appropriate MD/support staff ratios for each clinic; assist in maintaining standards of care for patients.
  • Monitor compliance with regulations and standards established by the clinic and regulatory agencies; assist in obtaining and maintaining appropriate accreditation levels.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to clinics; collaborate with Human Resources to establish evaluation criteria for staff.
  • Develop subordinates through training, guidance, and continuing education; provide performance feedback and evaluate staff performance.
  • Develop and maintain open lines of communication; apply clinic policies and procedures, including equal opportunity and affirmative action.
  • Conduct and attend staff meetings; develop staffing patterns for each department; maintain an open-door policy for all employees.
  • Work with Risk Manager to ensure safety and minimize risk exposure for patients and employees; provide timely training and in-services for clinic staff.
  • Establish and maintain control of profit and loss for the clinic; review and present capital equipment proposals.
  • Formalize and review funding levels for each clinic; create specific objectives and performance targets.
  • Allocate resources and focus work efforts on strategic objectives; control costs by establishing budgets and compliance standards.
  • Monitor expenses and review cash flows; pursue alternatives to generate incremental revenue and improve net income.
  • Ensure the asset base earns adequate financial returns after accounting for maintenance, replacement, and upgrades.
  • Work with Purchasing Manager and Facilities departments to procure equipment and facilities; monitor supplies and equipment expenditures.
  • Ensure timely communication of plan information throughout the clinic; work with the managed care department to meet operational objectives.
  • Provide training and development in managed care contracts; ensure clinic compliance with all managed care contractual agreements.
  • Develop and recommend clinic operating budget; ensure compliance with approved budgets; execute cost control and reduction programs.
  • Plan, develop, and train an effective organization to meet business demands; appraise performance and adjust salaries accordingly.
  • Develop and establish clinic operating policy; participate in the development and recommendation of corporate policy and goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or 1:1 substitute years of equivalent supervisory/management administrative experience.
  • 2+ years of previous supervisory/management experience.
  • Admin Fellowship experience is equal to one year of supervisory/management experience.
  • Solid working knowledge of healthcare/clinical operations.
  • Proven organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Management of a minimum 8-14 providers in a multispecialty site or <10 providers in a specialty care department.
  • Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree.
  • Ambulatory Care Management experience.
  • Managed care background.

Pay

The salary for this role will range from $72,800 to $130,000 annually based on full-time employment, depending on factors such as local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.
