Responsible to a licensed health care practitioner or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a medical or professional school of a State university. Serves as a member of the House staff of a State University System Medical/Professional School.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Residents in rotation and direct research projects and publications.
  • Contribute to the medical literature, write abstracts, and present at pertinent society meetings.
  • Foster the research interests of the residents.
  • Conduct research in specialized areas of health care and write reports on research objectives and results.
  • Participate in clinical activities relating to the advanced fellowship training program.
  • May participate in teaching activities.
  • May provide services under a Professional Services Agreement that clearly distinguishes services from those within the advanced training program.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved professional degree program in the appropriate health discipline.
  • Completed residency training within a selected area of specialization, including research and/or clinical training in specialized areas.
  • Licensed or eligible for a full Florida medical license in their primary specialty and qualified to function as an attending physician.
  • Advanced Fellowship training typically follows completion of clinical training in preparation for an academic position or subspecialty certification.
  • Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Clinical Fellow.
  • Holders of J-1 visa are not eligible for an appointment using this class code.
