Genitourinary Medicine Fellow

About the role

The Department of Urology at the University of Utah is seeking a family medicine or internal medicine residency graduate for a one‑year Genitourinary Medicine Fellowship. The fellowship is designed to train the physician in urologic medicine with an emphasis on general urology, providing experience in both medical and surgical urology, clinic procedures, and continuity patient care.

Qualifications

• Board eligible or board certified in family medicine or internal medicine
• Current or able to obtain an unrestricted Utah State Medical License

Responsibilities

• Work under supervision of a urologist or genitourinary medicine specialist.
• Assist attending physicians in clinical and surgical duties across the full scope of medical and surgical urology, with emphasis on clinic procedures.
• Develop competence to run a supervised full‑patient continuity urology clinic.
• Review lab and imaging results as part of the attending’s practice, determine follow‑up care with mentorship.
• Maintain medical records and patient charting to university standards, ensuring integrity and quality assurance.
• Participate in didactics with urologic residents and deliver several grand‑round presentations throughout the year.
• Perform weekly call responsibilities, including consults on the floor and in the emergency department during certain rotations.

Pay

Salary will be consistent with PGY‑4 or PGY‑5 level, depending upon prior training.
