About the Role

Under the supervision of a Clinical Research Supervisor or Principal Investigator (PI), the incumbent will perform entry-level duties related to the support and coordination of clinical studies. This role may include training and development to prepare for journey-level work. Responsibilities involve coordinating one or more single or multi-site clinical trials, assisting with protocol preparation, designing data forms, gathering and interpreting medical data, and ensuring adherence to study schedules.

This position supports day-to-day operations for a study at Benioff Children’s Hospital. It is a limited 20% position with variable study activities, including occasional in-person work at the hospital from approximately 5pm-9pm when participants are in the pediatric cardiac ICU. Other tasks may be completed remotely with flexible hours. After orientation, you will work independently with consultation from the principal investigators.

Responsibilities

• Help prepare protocols for study initiation and design flow sheets, data forms, and source documents.
• Gather and interpret medical, surgical, and laboratory data regarding clinical trial subjects.
• Apply understanding of inclusion/exclusion eligibility criteria for protocols.
• Recruit, enroll, register, schedule, and retain study subjects.
• Record protocol-specific treatments and ensure collection and shipment of samples.
• Assist research personnel in keeping patients on study schedules.
• Complete study forms for submission to sponsors and/or appropriate agencies.
• Collect, enter, and clean data into study databases while maintaining data quality.
• Assist with data analysis and preparation of reports and tables.
• Attend team meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school graduation and sufficient experience or demonstrated skills to successfully perform the assigned duties; equivalent experience/training may be considered.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a diverse team.
• Attention to detail and proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Windows.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based environment with project management and coordination skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet multiple deadlines on concurrent projects.
• Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with patients, co-workers, and physicians.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency with medical terminology.
• Experience working with patients or study subjects.
• Ability to abstract data from medical records and transfer it to data collection forms or databases.

Schedule
