About the Role
The Climbing Coach/Instructor is responsible for instructing the Adult Team at Session Climbing and various other technique classes. They will work directly under the Adult Programming Coordinator to coach team members in a creative and challenging environment, focusing on learning, growth, and building connections.
Responsibilities
- Review the curriculum and work with other coaches to ensure team members' needs are met
- Establish and maintain a positive, driven, and supportive culture
- Ensure the safety of Adult Team members at all times
- Stay informed on current and new training techniques
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with team members and the community
- Regularly assess current progress and future goals for all team members
- Meet with the Coach Crew to discuss athlete progress and goals
- Follow all Session policies and adhere to the schedule
Requirements
- Experienced indoor and outdoor climber in bouldering, top rope, and lead climbing
- Sound understanding of climbing techniques (footwork, body positioning, movement efficiency, route reading, etc.)
- Patience and passion for working with climbers at various ability levels and learning styles
- Creative and fun approach to climbing instruction and curriculum
- Willingness to collaborate with other coaches
Qualifications
- Preferred minimum one year of coaching experience
- Sexual Harassment Prevention Training
- Active First Aid and CPR certification

- Ability to adapt curriculum to meet individual needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use hands and arms to climb and belay
- Depth perception and spatial awareness
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
- Ability to talk, hear, and wear a harness/helmet
- Color vision
Work Environment
- Temperature-controlled indoor setting
- Exposure to airborne chalk particles
Pay
$20-$25 per hour, depending on experience and certifications
