Supports the Firm's client value strategy through financial analysis, pricing support, matter budgeting, and legal project management activities. Works closely with attorneys, Finance, Business Development, and other firm stakeholders to develop pricing solutions, monitor matter performance, and improve the delivery of legal services.
Responsibilities
- Pricing & Financial Analysis
- Assist in the development and analysis of pricing arrangements for client matters, including hourly, fixed fee, capped fee, and other alternative fee arrangements.
- Support the preparation of pricing proposals and RFP responses by gathering historical matter data and conducting financial analyses.
- Perform matter and portfolio analyses to identify trends, budget variances, and opportunities for improved profitability.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations that communicate financial performance and pricing recommendations to attorneys and business professionals.
- Maintain pricing, budgeting, and matter management databases, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data.
- Conduct research on client, industry, and market trends to support pricing and business planning activities.
- Assist with rate review processes and client pricing requests.
- Matter Planning & Legal Project Management
- Support matter planning efforts by assisting with budget development, staffing analyses, and work plan creation.
- Monitor matter budgets and financial performance, identifying potential issues and escalating concerns as appropriate.
- Help prepare project management documentation, including project plans, status reports, timelines, and risk trackers.
- Assist attorneys and business teams with matter management tools and reporting solutions.
- Track key matter metrics and provide regular reporting on budget-to-actual performance.
- Support post-matter reviews and lessons-learned analyses to improve future budgeting and project planning.
- Attorney & Client Support
- Assist attorneys in understanding matter financial performance and budget status.
- Prepare client-facing and internal materials related to pricing, budgeting, and matter management.
- Support the development of presentations, reports, and meeting materials for pricing and client value discussions.
- Respond to routine pricing, budgeting, and reporting requests from attorneys and business professionals.
- Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, resource utilization, and client service delivery.
- Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with Finance, Business Development, Accounting, Innovation, Knowledge Management, Marketing, and other business services teams.
- Assist with the development, testing, and maintenance of reporting tools, dashboards, and self-service resources.
- Participate in Client Value team projects and firmwide initiatives focused on profitability, process improvement, and innovation.
- Support training efforts by helping develop materials and resources related to pricing, budgeting, and matter management.
- Continuously develop knowledge of legal pricing, profitability analysis, project management, and industry best practices.
Priorities and areas of focus will be aligned with the Director of Client Value and adjusted over time based on firm strategic objectives and available resources. Duties and responsibilities are not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field required; advanced degree or certifications (e.g., project management) a plus.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in pricing, financial analysis, legal project management, or a related role. Experience in a large law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience with alternative fee arrangements, matter budgeting, and financial modeling.
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and basic financial modeling.
- Experience using GenAI platforms such as Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude.
- Experience with reporting and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI) preferred.
- Ability to organize and analyze data and communicate findings clearly.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule
- Required to work in the office at minimum 4 days per week.
- Occasionally called upon to work hours in excess of normal daily schedule.
Pay
- Pittsburgh, Dallas, Houston: $81,300 - $90,000
- Chicago, Philadelphia: $87,000 - $98,000
Actual pay may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location and experience.
