About the role

Through the Gem State Public Health program, members will conduct needs assessments regarding collaborations and partnerships, and recruit potential partnerships as well as coordinate meetings, design training materials, and provide other support to public health organizations. Members will be trained in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Sources of Strength (SOS), and safeTALK. Members will coordinate ASIST, and SOS trainings for community members to increase the number of suicide prevention interventionists throughout Idaho. The program will offer members academic advising and the opportunity to explore degree options that focus on public health.

Member Duties

  • Increase, expand and enhance the capacity of existing public health programs and services by helping potential clients along in the intake process, while modeling recovery and coping skills needed for resiliency
  • Provide information and support to clients
  • Facilitate client satisfaction survey
  • Maintain facility cleanliness including but not limited to laundry, bathrooms, shower room, sleeping dorms and common area
  • Coordinate w/patients' treatment team, assist in developing a treatment plan, and promote mental health education if needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Successfully complete & pass 40 hr certification program
  • Apply for temp 6-month certification until 200 hrs have been verified
