Client Services Director, Alpha - $200,000/year USD
Alpha is a private K–12 school network. Students complete academics in roughly two hours per day and dedicate the remainder to building practical skills—and the test results confirm the model works. This is an on-site position at a single campus, in person every day, across one of 12 U.S. markets: Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, La Jolla, or Malibu, CA; Austin, TX; Atlanta, GA; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Greenwich, CT; Nashville, TN; or Park City, UT. Select your preferred market when you apply.
About the role
Parents invest heavily, research thoroughly, and within the first ten minutes ask pointed questions about rigor and expectations. The model succeeds only when families genuinely seek what it offers. In a small cohort, a single family who enrolled expecting something different alters the environment for everyone.
You will manage one campus's admissions process from start to finish: initial inquiry, fit evaluation, campus visit, shadow day, decision dialogue. You are the sole point of contact a family engages with from inquiry through the first day of school. A typical week includes: responding to every inquiry within four hours, guiding a skeptical father through the afternoon program block, facilitating a shadow day, documenting everything in HubSpot, and calling a family to explain their child would thrive better elsewhere. You will juggle 20 or more active families concurrently at varying stages. You make the fit determination, and you communicate the outcome—in person, in your own voice.
The network is expanding, and the operational playbook evolves alongside it. Those who validate a market author the FAQs, define the fit criteria, and establish the standards inherited by subsequent campuses—and they become the trusted name affluent families circulate within their city.
Professionals who excel in this role typically include: admissions and enrollment leaders from selective institutions; high-value consumer closers serving families—such as luxury real estate agents, private client advisors, or premium practice proprietors; and hospitality or private service operators experienced in delivering white-glove experiences to discerning clients.
Responsibilities
- Managing the enrollment experience for every prospective family from initial inquiry through onboarding, conducting a genuine needs assessment before any presentation.
- Juggling 20 or more active families simultaneously, responding to every inquiry promptly and reviewing applications each day.
- Facilitating campus tours, open houses, information sessions, and shadow days that clearly communicate who this model serves—and who it does not.
- Making the admission or decline recommendation and personally delivering the decision to the family.
- Maintaining HubSpot and the student information system (SIS) after every touchpoint, leveraging AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude for preparation and summaries, and providing weekly pipeline updates to leadership.
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Pursuing a seat-fill quota. A family who enrolls and departs is a worse result than one you declined upfront.
- Having your fit assessment overridden to preserve a relationship or meet a yield goal.
- Following scripts, executing call campaigns, or deploying discount-based closings.
- Passing families through a series of coordinators, or awaiting committee approval for routine decisions.
- Conducting amenity-focused tours that sidestep difficult questions.
Requirements
- 3 or more years in a client-facing capacity where an individual or family was the buyer at $25,000 or more per client, or $2,000 or more monthly. (Direct B2C/D2C only; B2B and enterprise sales do not apply.)
- You have personally managed a client, admissions, or enrollment journey from initial inquiry to commitment decision.
- You have simultaneously managed 7 or more client relationships in a CRM, database, or tracking platform.
- You have advised a prospective client against buying, enrolling, or joining because the fit was not right.
- You have incorporated AI tools into a client-facing workflow.
- You communicate clearly and professionally in both live dialogue and written correspondence with executives, high-net-worth individuals, or similarly demanding clients.
- You have personally delivered polished in-person tours, presentations, meetings, or hosted experiences for affluent families, senior executives, or other prominent visitors.
- You can develop a multi-touch relationship spanning 30 or more days and maintain engagement with families not immediately ready to enroll.
- You have owned a measurable enrollment, revenue, membership, or high-value customer-acquisition objective, including generating qualified demand and cultivating local referral or community partnerships.
- You currently reside in, or will relocate within 60 days to, an open campus market: Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, La Jolla, or Malibu, CA; Austin, TX; Atlanta, GA; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Greenwich, CT; Nashville, TN; or Park City, UT.
- Willing to work on-site at your campus every day.
- Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.
Nice-to-have Qualifications
- Admissions or enrollment management background at a selective private, independent, or boarding school.
- Experience in luxury residential real estate, private banking, family office services, concierge medicine, or high-end event planning, where families were your primary clients.
- You designed the enrollment process or service standards yourself rather than inheriting existing frameworks.
- You already have relationships with affluent families, preschools, or family advisors in one of the 12 markets.
- Owner-operator experience in which you personally sold, delivered, and retained high-value clients.
