About the Role
This role supervises consumer credit dispute investigations to ensure adherence with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Responsibilities include training, coaching and developing team members while ensuring all operational and compliance targets are met; ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory standards for investigating and responding to consumer credit disputes; identifying and correcting systemic errors in credit reporting.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to team of credit dispute investigators including talent selection, training, employee development, workload management and performance management; ensure all operational targets are met. (30%)
- Supervise the consumer credit dispute process to ensure reasonable investigations are completed in accordance with FCRA and FACT Act requirements and inaccurate reporting is promptly identified and corrected. (30%)
- Support the Legal Department in investigating pre-litigation demands related to the FCRA, active defensive litigation cases as it relates to credit disputes and FCRA claims, including, but not limited to, providing summaries of credit disputes, summarizing the investigations done by MBFS, and producing documents relevant to such investigations (20%)
- Mitigate risk associated with consumer credit reporting through analysis of dispute trends, identification and correction of systemic and process related issues resulting in credit reporting errors, and collaboration across the organization to drive improvements to the credit reporting process. (10%)
- Maintain robust written credit dispute procedures in compliance with the accuracy and integrity requirements for credit reporting outlined in the FACT Act. (10%)
Qualifications
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. at the time of application. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.
- Minimum of 4 years of overall work experience.
- Preferred experience: Business-General (4 years), Collections (1 year), Credit (1 year), Customer Service (2 years), Management (2 years), Remarketing (1 year).
- High School Diploma/(GED) required; Bachelor's Degree preferred in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- 1 year of experience with compliance and FCRA guidelines preferred.
Skills
- Analytical skills: ability to collect data and establish facts and identify trends and variances
- PC skills: Microsoft Office, Corporate Mainframe
- Problem Solving skills
- 1 year of experience with LEMANS, CASS, RMS preferred
- 1 year of experience with ALFA, OnPoint, FAW required
