About the Role

Actively search for new business opportunities for the engineering consulting department, office, or division. Develop and foster long-term client relationships through networking, marketing materials, and direct client engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the client development representative for an office or department.
  • Use personal contacts to develop and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Spend time outside the office in direct contact with clients and prospects.
  • Schedule meetings with existing and potential clients to introduce or remind them of the firm’s capabilities.
  • Utilize office staff to augment and assist in client development efforts as needed.
  • Develop and leverage networking contacts to generate client leads and secure new projects from past, existing, and future clients.
  • May solicit advice or assistance from other firm members to implement client development strategies.
  • Assist operations managers with the preparation and execution of client development plans and programs.
  • Engage with professional organizations to network with potential clients and gather competitive intelligence.
  • Report planned and proposed sales activities to supervisors, potentially accountable for generating a specified volume of business within a defined timeframe.
  • Collaborate with corporate roles (e.g., National Account Managers, Sectors, Marketing) to coordinate client and project pursuits.
  • Assist in organizing and executing promotional activities, including professional displays at conferences or trade shows.
  • Use business intelligence tools to identify high-probability opportunities.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects; participate in pre-task planning and report safety concerns to management.
  • Maintain quality standards on all projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related field and 3 years of relevant experience, or a minimum of 7 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • A valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history may be required.
