Client Data & Outreach Intern (Fall 2026- UNPAID)

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises, providing emergency relief, protection, rehabilitation assistance, resettlement services, and advocacy for refugees and victims of violent conflict. Founded in 1933, the IRC works in over 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities, ensuring new arrivals receive food, shelter, and clothing, and helping refugees gain self-sufficiency.

About the role

The intern will conduct outreach to inform clients about available services and job opportunities, update client information, and assist clients in addressing barriers to self-sufficiency. They will also consolidate and organize data for programmatic evaluation and grant writing, track employment placements, and assist with developing service opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct client outreach regarding available services and opportunities, confirming client contact information
• Update changes in client information into relevant systems
• Provide support to clients in addressing barriers to self-sufficiency, such as limited English proficiency, lack of work experience, lack of childcare, lack of transportation, etc.
• Consolidate and organize client service delivery data into appropriate spreadsheets and databases
• Track and casenote employment placements and progress, services, and other data in IRC’s database
• Assist with developing service opportunities for clients enrolled in new programming
• Afford assistance with employment-related activities as needed
• Document activities in case files and provide other administrative support as appropriate
• Model appropriate workplace dress and manner
• Attend Volunteer/Intern Orientation
• Record hours and submit completed timesheet for each month via the IRC’s online Volunteer Dashboard

Requirements

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree or recent graduate
• Good written and verbal communications skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage clients in a counseling/coaching role
• Comfortable working with people from a broad, global environment
• Willingness to transport clients in your personal vehicle
