About the role
CAMBA is a community organization providing a wide range of integrated programs to more than 72,000 individuals and families annually. The Landing Family Shelter, funded by the New York City Department of Homeless Services, offers a supportive environment for 169 homeless families.
Responsibilities
- Maintain professional relationships with clients and client confidentiality.
- Practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol & Procedures.
- Comply with Federal, State, City, and CAMBA security and privacy policies.
- Aid clients in completing CAMBA intake applications, screenings, and forms.
- Create and maintain client files and make file copies.
- Conduct initial risk assessments of clients and their families.
- Prepare initial biopsychosocial evaluations within 30 days of client entry and update according to regulations.
- Provide “instant response” services when a client's immediate well-being and safety is threatened.
- Collaborate with clients and case managers to prepare initial Independent Living Plans (ILPs).
- Assist clients in accessing community resources and referring them to appropriate services.
- Follow up with clients and referral organizations regarding client contact and progress.
- Consult with others to determine causes of client problems and implement solutions.
- Act as an advocate for clients and their families to arrange for necessary medical, psychiatric, and other tests and examinations.
- Alter clients' and their families' attitudes and behaviors to improve their conditions.
- Facilitate or participate in case conferences to ensure collaborative service delivery.
- Lead group counseling sessions and psychoeducation to enhance social development and psychological education.
- Monitor clients' progress toward their goals through regular contacts/sessions.
- Document client contacts within 48 hours.
- Periodically reassess clients and update services plans and goals.
- Follow up with clients post-successful completion of primary goals to ensure stability.
- Ensure all clients' charts contain required documentation.
- Market the program internally to recruit clients.
- Complete weekly unit inspections for clients with newborns or ACS involvements.
Requirements
- Minimum Education/Experience: Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) required within one year of date of hire. Additional requirements include pre-employment clearances, TB test, First Aid/CPR certification, and overdose prevention certification.
- Bilingual Preferred
- Sensitivity and awareness of working with homeless and vulnerable populations is a plus.

$69,010 - $74,160 annually
