Clerk - Retail Receiving

About the Role

A Receiver / Inventory Control Clerk (ICC) oversees all Direct Store Delivery (DSD) operations, ensuring merchandise delivered to the store is checked, accounted for, and brought to the sales floor. You will walk the entire store daily to scan DSD areas, address under- or over-ordering, and resolve out-of-stock conditions. The role involves collaborating with the Store Director, order writers, night crew, merchandisers, and the File Maintenance Clerk.

Responsibilities include monitoring weekly ads and DSD displays, managing donations, and maintaining grocery and non-perishable inventories. You will also ensure backroom security, cleanliness, and organization while verifying all equipment functions properly.

Responsibilities

• Oversee DSD operations, verifying and accounting for delivered merchandise.
• Scan DSD areas daily to address ordering discrepancies and out-of-stock conditions.
• Communicate with Store Director, order writers, night crew, merchandisers, and File Maintenance Clerk.
• Monitor weekly ads, DSD displays, and donations.
• Maintain grocery and non-perishable inventories.
• Ensure backroom security, cleanliness, and organization.
• Check and maintain proper functioning of equipment.
• Track damaged, expired, or salvageable merchandise and process returns for credit.

Requirements

• Prior customer service skills or related experience.
• Ability to maintain backroom cleanliness, security, and organization.
• Attention to detail for monitoring merchandise and returns.
• Basic computer knowledge (email, Excel, store portal).
• Problem-solving skills to work independently and make decisions.
• Strong communication with vendors, drivers, customers, coworkers, and management.
• Physical ability to lift/carry 5–50 lbs, push/pull 10–50 lbs, and stand/walk continuously.
