About the Role

The Lab Clerk provides administrative support, performs clerical and customer service functions, and completes non-technical duties within the hospital setting to support efficient daily operations including patient assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Performs clerical duties including preparing and sending outgoing mail, distributing incoming mail, maintaining filing systems, entering data, and maintaining databases
  • Types documents and correspondence; performs photocopying, scanning, and faxing
  • Greets visitors and communicates effectively with patients and providers
  • Answers, places, and directs phone calls; distributes messages appropriately
  • Organizes, coordinates, and schedules meetings and appointments
  • Maintains a clean and organized office environment; monitors and orders office supplies
  • Handles information requests by reviewing records, answering inquiries, and responding to incoming requests
  • Coordinates workflow and compiles records of office activities
  • Performs basic medical assistance, including phlebotomy (training provided)
  • Assists with orientation and training of personnel and students
  • Participates in meetings as required or assigned
  • Prepares periodic reports as requested
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent – Required
  • Associate's degree – Preferred
  • Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education
  • 1 year of clerical experience – Preferred
  • Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
