About the Role
Performs highly complex clerical work and/or supervises and participates in performing complex clerical work. May also perform skilled typing and/or keyboarding tasks.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of complex clerical tasks demonstrating knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and arithmetic.
- Read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Carry out procedures in clerical work systems.
- Speak and write simply and directly.
- Compare words and numbers quickly and accurately.
- Operate various kinds of office equipment and technologies.
- Supervise and participate in clerical work, demonstrating supervisory aptitude.
Requirements
- Two and one-half (2-1/2) years of general clerical experience.
- Demonstrated supervisory aptitude or potential.
- For certain positions, typing and/or keyboarding skills (40 net words per minute) and/or the ability to use typewriters, computers, and word processing or other software applications.
- For certain positions, a current and valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle.
- For positions involving contact with detainees, inmates, or residents of confinement facilities, compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) is required. Applicants must not have engaged in or been convicted of sexual abuse or harassment as specified under PREA.
Qualifications
Non-Qualifying Experience: Experience limited to simple and repetitious clerical work (e.g., wrapping/unwrapping articles, opening envelopes, affixing tags/labels, arranging office desks, delivering correspondence) is not considered qualifying.
Substitutions Allowed:
- High school graduation may substitute for six (6) months of general clerical experience.
- Education at an accredited community college, business, or technical school in a clerical curriculum may substitute for general clerical experience at a rate of 15 semester hours for six (6) months of experience, up to a maximum of two (2) years.
- Education at an accredited community college or university in a baccalaureate program may substitute for general clerical experience at a rate of 15 semester hours for six (6) months of experience, up to a maximum of two (2) years.
