About the Role
This position is for 6 hours per day at 182 days per year, with a pay rate of $24.11 per hour based on the PSE Salary Schedule Level 4.
Responsibilities
- Make calls to parents about absent students
- Maintain student attendance records
- Potentially maintain student discipline records
- Provide assistance in the school office, including answering phones and serving visitors
- Maintain records and provide backup and clerical support
- Maintain program records, track compliance, and produce reports
- Provide program information and advice to staff, parents, and professionals
- Operate a computer and various software packages (word processing, spreadsheet, database)
- Maintain knowledge of program rules, regulations, and procedures
- Track projects and deadlines, and coordinate with others to meet them
- Report monthly enrollment counts for categorical programs
- Provide clerical support, such as typing correspondence and maintaining files
- Model appropriate and cooperative behavior, protecting confidential information
Qualifications
- Education, training, skills, and experience necessary to carry out the assignment
- Ability to maintain detailed records and provide customer service
- Knowledge of office procedures and the VAX system
- High-level keyboarding and data entry skills
- Skill in operating office machines and computers
- Ability to compose and format correspondence, reports, and charts
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and establish effective working relationships
Requirements
- Fingerprinting and background check to ensure no convictions involving minors
- Completion of training in the district infection control plan
- Some positions may require a valid Washington state driver's license and good driving record
Skills
- Effective communication, both oral and written
- Customer service and public relations skills
- Ability to organize and set priorities for work
- Skill in correct grammar, spelling, and English usage
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations
Reporting Relationships
Reports to assigned administrator; may receive direction from multiple program personnel.
Mental Demands
Required to adapt to shifting priorities and frequently re-channel work effort. Requires concentration and attention to detail. May occasionally deal with distraught or difficult individuals.
Physical Demands
Exposed to visual display terminal for prolonged periods; required to sit for prolonged periods. Some positions may require travel to various school sites.
