Clerical Documentation Assistant
About the role
Jump-start your career as a Clerical Documentation Assistant today with TJI Frisco. This position assists the provider with navigating the medical record, locating information for review, and researching information as requested.
Responsibilities
- Capture accurate and detailed documentation of the patient/Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP)/Independent Advanced Practice Professional (Independent APP) encounter in a timely manner (during the encounter or immediately following the patient encounter).
- Navigate the medical record.
- Locate information for review.
- Research information as requested by the provider.
- Do not make independent decisions, paraphrase information or add their own observations or impressions into the electronic medical record.
- Do not give medical advice or communicate medical information in any way directly with the patient or patient’s family.
- Do not deliver direct patient care.
- May communicate wait time or delays as directed by the LIP/Independent APP.
- Do not enter medication orders in the EMR.
- Scribes, certified in accordance with governmental program requirements, may be utilized for Lab and/or Radiology Order entry as directed by the supervising provider.
- May use their own log in ID within the EMR.
- Performs other related job functions as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Minimum one-year experience as a scribe or previous experience in a clinical or hospital setting required.
- Medical Scribe Certification (Preferred).
- Medical Terminology Course Preferred.
