Cleanroom Manufacturing Technician (Nights)

Essential Function

Join the team at Silfex as a Manufacturing Technician 2 and build your career in high-tech manufacturing. In this hands-on role, you will operate advanced and automated equipment used to create precision components for the semiconductor industry.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Operate machines that support the Silfex manufacturing and finishing processes
  • Learn and perform 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) workplace organization activities
  • Develop proficiency in 3-5 designated processes through hands-on training and practice
  • Learn and apply Silfex policies and procedures to perform routine tasks effectively and safely
  • Follow all material handling requirements to ensure quality of product and equipment
  • Read and interpret assembly drawings, follow work instructions, setup sheets and process specifications
  • Accurately enter production and quality information into batch records, the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (software used to track manufacturing activities), and other required production or quality logs
  • Ensure cleanliness of the area and perform general and routine housekeeping tasks
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks as assigned to ensure equipment is functioning properly
  • Initiate work orders or dispatches when needed to support operational efficiency
  • Follow all safety procedures and work practices, including proper use of required PPE, safe handling of materials and chemicals, and prompt reporting of incidents, hazards, or unsafe conditions
  • Participate in Tier 1 meetings and shift passdown communications to stay informed on production priorities, safety updates, quality expectations, equipment status, and other operational needs
  • Develop and maintain competency in basic troubleshooting of equipment
  • Understand and apply the Silfex Quality Management System (QMS) - the company’s standards and procedures for consistent, high‑quality production
  • Perform other duties and projects assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) credential required
  • 1–2 years of experience operating equipment in a manufacturing, cleanroom, laboratory, or similarly controlled environment that requires contamination-control practices and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ability and willingness to work safely around hazardous chemicals and wear cleanroom apparel for 12-hour shifts, including full-body gowning such as hood, mask, gloves, and boot covers; training and PPE provided
  • Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to navigate manufacturing systems, software applications, and web-based platforms
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety, quality, and compliance
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to perform effectively with minimal supervision
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in cleanroom environments or similarly regulated settings, such as laboratory operations, chemical processing, food manufacturing, medical device manufacturing, or semiconductor manufacturing
  • Hands‑on experience handling hazardous chemicals and utilizing appropriate PPE and safety procedures
  • Ability to trouble shoot technical issues and resolve technical issues related to manufacturing processes and production equipment
  • Experience working with Silicon, glass, quartz, or other brittle material

Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing, walking, and use of hands to handle or feel parts and tools
  • Frequent reaching with hands and arms, stand or sit, and talk or hear
  • Sometimes stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds; regularly up to 25 pounds
  • Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles; occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions; moderate noise
  • Frequent use of latex gloves while performing job duties, subject to approved accommodations where applicable
  • Frequent putting on and removing PPE (donning and doffing) when entering and exiting cleanroom environments multiple times during a shift
  • Frequent compliance with cleanroom requirements, which may restrict items such as piercings, makeup, rings, contact lenses, cell phones, earbuds, and other personal items depending on room assignment
