About the Role
Performs a wide variety of scheduled and non-scheduled cleaning tasks by following written or oral instructions from the lead custodian. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Responsibilities
- High and low dusting as needed, including dust mopping and wet mopping floors.
- Cleans and disinfects bathrooms, shower rooms, and other assigned rooms.
- Washes and cleans walls and windows as necessary.
- Collects and discards waste in designated areas.
- Replenishes paper towels, hand soap, and toilet tissue as necessary.
- Performs set-ups as directed by the lead custodian.
- Locks and secures all School District property and buildings.
- Assists other custodial personnel with tasks requiring more than one person.
- Notifies lead custodian of any unsafe conditions.
- Attends in-service training as directed by the supervisor.
- Adheres to all work and safety policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with coworkers, teaching staff, students, administrators, vendors, and supervisors.
- Dependable work record and positive work attitude.
- Aptitude to utilize district technology, including Microsoft, email, work orders, phones, and integration software.
- Willingness to complete ongoing training.
- Ability to read and interpret reports, calendars, and documents, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Qualifications
- Must be capable of continuously standing, walking, stair climbing, reaching, handling, and gripping without difficulty.
- Must be capable of frequent bending, stooping, pushing, or pulling heavy objects, lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
- Must be capable of working at heights over 30 feet.
- Must remain free of alcohol or illegal substances in the workplace.
- Must serve as a positive role model for students.
