About the role

The Retail Home Consultant at Clayton creates a world‑class home buying experience by assisting customers in identifying a floor plan, selecting options, and coordinating the construction process.

Responsibilities

• Clayton Ambassador: Protect the Clayton branding and assets by maintaining a high level of integrity throughout the sales process.
• Constant Learner: Develop expertise in finance, mortgage concepts, product knowledge, sales acumen, presentation skills, and the local market.
• Customer Follow‑up: Maintain customer files and provide timely follow‑up with prospective buyers via the company’s CRM system.
• Merchandising: Assist the manager by selecting inventory, decorating model homes, and maintaining the appearance of the homes.
• Personal Prospecting: Develop, refine, and execute a strategic sales and marketing plan to increase home‑center traffic.
• Product Demonstration: Present potential buyers with display homes, demonstrate features and benefits, and create added value.
• Set Appointments: Schedule home‑center visits using the prospect database and convert ad calls and web leads into appointments.
• Training: Participate in all sales meetings, training opportunities, and other company‑sponsored functions.
• Team Oriented: Work cooperatively in a collaborative environment and assist with miscellaneous duties as required.

Requirements

• At least 6 months of relationship‑driven business‑to‑consumer sales (preferred).
• General understanding of the retail environment.
• Ability to obtain appropriate manufactured‑home sales licensing and comply with related legal requirements.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• Ability to excel and contribute in a team environment.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• Willingness to work the required schedule, including Saturdays.
• Professional demeanor and appearance.
• Ability to walk the lot and show homes throughout all seasons.
• Ability to move and lift furniture, promotional items, etc., up to 75 lb.
• Subject to criminal background check and drug screening.

Schedule

Work includes Saturdays; home centers are closed on Sundays to provide a balanced working environment.

Compensation

Base salary of $50,000 plus a lucrative commission plan, offering unlimited career and earning potential.
