Job Summary

We're hiring a compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to join our therapeutic classroom team. This position is also a great fit for experienced Teacher Aides, Classroom Assistants, Instructional Aides, School Aides, Education Assistants, Behavior Technicians, Behavioral Technicians, Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), Childcare Professionals, Mental Health Technicians, Youth Care Specialists, or anyone passionate about helping students succeed.

About the Role

Working alongside certified Special Education Teachers, therapists, psychologists, and behavioral health professionals, you'll provide individualized student support that helps children develop communication, academic, behavioral, social, and independent living skills in a structured, positive learning environment.

Direct Student Support & Classroom Success

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support for students with autism, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and behavioral challenges.
  • Aid certified Special Education Teachers with daily classroom instruction, learning activities, and behavior support.
  • Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Student Support Plans (SSPs), and individualized behavioral intervention strategies.
  • Support students in developing communication, self-help, social, emotional regulation, functional academics, and independent living skills.
  • Reinforce positive behaviors through consistent encouragement, structured routines, and positive behavior supports.
  • Absorb students during classroom instruction, lunch, recess, community outings, vocational activities, and school events.
  • Support Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT), and Speech Therapy programming throughout the school day.
  • Accurately document student progress, behaviors, interventions, and classroom observations.
  • Utilize Safe and Positive Approaches (NCI) and approved nonviolent crisis intervention techniques when necessary to maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, teachers, therapists, nurses, psychologists, and interdisciplinary team members while promoting student success and independence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Passion for working with children with autism, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, emotional disabilities, or behavioral health needs.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional during challenging situations.
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to complete Heartspring orientation and required annual training.
  • Maintain CPR certification and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) certification.
