Classroom Assistant - Toddler Program (ages 18 months to 3)

About the role

Toddler Program Teaching Assistant at Bellevue Montessori School’s Park Campus, supporting toddlers in a Montessori environment with activities that promote independence, motor skills, and self‑esteem.

Responsibilities

• Assist with early and late arrivals / pick‑ups
• Support head teachers with classroom maintenance and environment preparation
• Clean and sanitize classrooms and learning tools
• Follow health & safety procedures and supervise children, including diapering
• Follow BMS policies and procedures
• Lead group activities with stories, movement, songs, and other engagements
• Assist with snack preparation
• Engage in conversation, read books and poems, tell stories, and sing songs to increase language opportunities
• Aid children only when necessary, using the Montessori method
• Apply positive discipline techniques to foster self‑discipline and conflict resolution
• Provide love, individual attention, and support to encourage independent thinking
• Complete required trainings, attend meetings, and support new hires

Requirements

• Enjoy working with young children and want to foster their growth
• Demonstrate flexibility and consistency in work ethic and history
• Have experience observing children
• Possess background knowledge of the Montessori method
• Be 18 years of age or older
• Complete DCYF required clearances: portable background check, fingerprinting, WA State Food Handler’s Permit, proof of MMR immunization, and a negative tuberculosis skin test (assistance provided if needed)

Pay

Starting rate of $22.00 per hour ($21.50 per hour for candidates with no prior classroom experience).

Schedule
