Responsibilities

  • Assist classroom teachers in all aspects of daily operations to create a total learning environment that supports each child’s individual needs.
  • Support the implementation of curriculum, activities, and daily routines.
  • Use appropriate teaching techniques and guide children in the proper care and use of supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Build positive relationships with children and their families, understanding each child’s background and developmental needs.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom and assist with general housekeeping tasks.
  • Promote a positive environment where children, families, and staff feel supported, respected, and valued.
  • Maintain open, warm, and professional communication with staff and families.
  • Understand and follow all health, safety, and emergency policies.
  • Support children in personal hygiene and group health practices.
  • Report any suspected child abuse to the supervisor immediately.
  • Provide direct assistance to teachers and staff as needed, supporting the teaching staff, center philosophy, program, and curriculum.
  • Ensure the safety and security of students while providing a clean environment both inside and outside the center.
  • Adhere to hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as required, aligning with the core values, mission, and vision of the organization.
  • Maintain current knowledge in present areas of responsibility through self-education and ongoing programs.
  • Attend staff meetings, mandatory in-services, and complete competency evaluations on time.

Requirements

  • Technical College Certificate (TCC) in a related field, preferably Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) (Required) OR
  • A valid Child Development Associate (CDA) or valid Paraprofessional Certificate with 2 additional years of experience (Required)
  • 2+ years assisting or teaching a group of young children in a childcare setting (Required)
  • CPR certification obtained within 1 year of hire
  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Check (Cogent)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
