Classroom Aide

Part-time position working 28 hours per week, providing flexible support throughout the Head Start Birth-5 Center. Duties vary daily and may include classroom assistance, playground supervision, food preparation, or custodial tasks to ensure smooth center operations.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom activities and assist teaching staff as needed.
• Engage positively with infants, toddlers, and preschool children ages 6 weeks to 5 years.
• Maintain effective communication with children and families.
• Adhere to Head Start Performance Standards, Indiana Day Care Licensing Regulations, CACFP Guidelines, and Head Start Birth-5 Forms and Procedures Manual.
• Perform duties in various roles, including classroom aide, playground monitor, cook, or custodial support.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with infants, toddlers, and/or preschool children preferred.
• Obtain a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) within one year of hire; on-the-job training may be provided.
• Must meet Head Start and Indiana Childcare Licensing Regulations, including:
• Head Start Standards of Conduct.
• Federal and state criminal history requirements.
• Sex offender registry checks.
• Drug screening and physical examination.
• Annual T.B. test.
