Classroom Aide

Position Summary

Responsible for providing assistance throughout the Head Start Center. Incumbent will provide support with center operations including classroom assistance, meal distribution, and special projects.

Skills & Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Child Development Associate Credential an advantage

Additional Job Requirements

• Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a personal vehicle with required liability insurance for use in business related travel
• Must be able to work at various sites under different supervisors
• Ensure efficient operations and present a professional image in conduct, attitude and attire
• Must be philosophically compatible with the mission of PACE and become familiar with the agency’s strategic plan goals

Childcare Requirements

• Free from Child Abuse and Neglect
• Annual TB test
• National fingerprint check every three years
• State criminal history and sex offender check every five years
• Pre-employment drug test & physical examination certification
• Physical examination recertification every four years

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Encourage children to explore, experiment, question, observe, and play
• Utilize developmentally appropriate practices with children. Ensure sufficient and proper supervision of all children at the site at all times
• Display a caring, nurturing approach toward all children, families, and staff
• Avoid physical contact with children except in emergencies
• Avoid touching children’s bodies except in emergencies
• Avoid physical punishment of children
• Avoid verbal abuse of children
• Avoid sexual contact with children
• Avoid sexual harassment of children
