About the role
The Learn Academy in Redwood City is now hiring Full-time and Part-time Behavior Technicians starting at $26/hr with benefits. The Learn Academy, formerly Creative Learning Center, is a certified K - 12 Private Day School designed to meet the academic and social needs of children who require a highly individualized behavioral and educational setting. We offer training and mentorship for candidates with limited experience!
Responsibilities
- Provide direct instructional support to individual and/or groups of students and monitor ability to follow directions and behavior.
- Implement treatment plans using ABA techniques.
- Collect data regarding student(s) reaching goals/objectives as directed by licensed staff.
- Assist staff in maintaining charts and other records related to student(s) progress.
- Reinforce academic behaviors taught by licensed staff and provide the student with opportunities to practice.
- Assist student in community, recreational, school, and leisure activities under the direction of licensed staff.
- Implement district approved techniques for verbal de-escalation and safe physical restraint, such as Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.
- Perform other related duties as assigned and required by the building administration and licensed staff.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
- 1-2 years’ experience working with children in a special need’s education setting preferred but not required.
- Ability to collaborate and receive feedback, mentoring and direction from peers and supervisors.
- Demonstrated experience in maintaining a professional and clinical perspective at all times, with the ability to not internalize or personalize (e.g. emotionally) certain student behaviors or mannerisms that occur.
- Demonstrated experience using physical ability and dexterity to safely and effectively use Crisis Management Interventions (including the use of therapeutic holds) of all involved (e.g. self, student, other employees).
- Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (stoop, reach, stand, kneel, squat, sit, walk, lift, pull, grasp) for extended periods of time.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
