Class B Roll Off Garbage Truck Driver

Responsibilities

• Safely operate front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up service of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material.
• Transport the material to a disposal, transfer, or recycling facility; may make one or more trips throughout the shift.
• Deploy both manual and automatic trucks.
• Perform repeated lifting up to 50 pounds and move and maneuver up to 100 pounds.
• Mount and dismount the truck multiple times every route.
• Navigate through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations.
• Perform highly skilled backing maneuvers.
• Climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts.
• Conduct driver pre and post inspections.
• Ensure the truck is in compliance with IWS’s safety standards as well as OSHA and DOT regulations, and local traffic laws, prior to and while operating the vehicle.

Requirements

• 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Valid Class A or B CDL with airbrake endorsement.
• 1-year CDL driving experience in the last 7 years.
• Great safety record and clean MVR.
• Experience as a driver or helper for a refuse company is highly preferred.
• Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and applicable traffic regulations.
• Ability to speak and read English to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic and signals, respond to official questions, and make legible entries on reports and records.
• Read and understand a map.
• Meet physical and safety requirements of the position.
• Willing and able to work required hours as allowed under DOT regulations; may include weekend, night, and/or holiday work.

Schedule

• Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday hours.
• Early start time.

Pay

• Hourly pay rate: $31.27.
• Hourly pay with overtime pay.
