Class B Front Load Truck Driver

About the role

Interstate Waste Services is hiring CDL B Front Load Truck Drivers to safely operate front load trucks, transport waste/material to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities, and perform related duties in the Rockaway, NJ area. The position offers a family‑style culture within a progressive waste‑and‑recycling company serving Northern NJ, Southern NY, NYC, and expanding into PA and OH.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate front load trucks (both manual and automatic).
• Transport material to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities; may make one or more trips per shift.
• Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and ensure the truck complies with IWS, OSHA, DOT, and local traffic laws.
• Load and unload containers, repeatedly lifting up to 50 lb and moving/maneuvering up to 100 lb.
• Mount and dismount the truck multiple times each route.
• Navigate through congested communities and confined or tight urban areas, executing skilled backing maneuvers.
• Climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts.
• Follow all safety standards and regulations while driving.

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Valid Class A or B CDL with Airbrake endorsement.
• At least 1 year of CDL driving experience within the last 7 years (front‑load garbage truck experience preferred).
• Great safety record and clean MVR.
• Experience as a driver or helper for a refuse company is highly preferred.
• Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and applicable traffic regulations.
• Ability to speak and read English to communicate with the public, understand highway traffic and signals, respond to official questions, and make legible entries on reports.
• Ability to read and understand a map.
• Meet the physical and safety requirements of the position.
• Willing and able to work the required hours as allowed under DOT regulations, which may include weekend, night, and/or holiday work.

Pay

$31.50 per hour (minimum and maximum salary both $31.50/hour).

Schedule

Monday – Friday, with Saturdays as needed; early start time.
