Class B Front Load Truck Driver

About the role

Interstate Waste Services is hiring CDL B Front Load Truck Drivers to operate front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up service of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material. Drivers transport material to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities and may make one or more trips throughout the shift. The position involves navigating congested communities and confined or tight city locations, with highly skilled backing maneuvers essential to success. Drivers routinely climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts and are responsible for pre- and post-trip inspections. Both manual and automatic trucks are deployed.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate front, side, or rear-loading trucks for waste and recyclable material pick-up
• Transport material to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities, making one or more trips per shift as needed
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure truck compliance with safety standards and regulations
• Navigate through congested communities and confined or tight city locations
• Execute highly skilled backing maneuvers
• Climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts
• Repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds, move and maneuver up to 100 pounds, and mount/dismount the truck multiple times every route
• Complete other duties as assigned

Requirements

• 21 years of age or older
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
• Valid Class A or B CDL with Airbrake Endorsement
• 1-year CDL driving experience within the last 7 years
• Great safety record and clean MVR
• Ability to speak and read English to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic and signals, respond to official questions, and make legible entries on reports and records
• Ability to read and understand a map
• Meet physical and safety requirements of the position
• Willing and able to work required hours as allowed under DOT regulation, which may include weekend, night, and/or holiday work
• Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and applicable traffic regulations

Qualifications

• 1–2 years front load garbage truck experience required
• Experience as a driver or helper for a refuse company is highly preferred

Schedule

Monday–Friday (Saturdays as needed) with an early start time.

Pay

$31.50 per hour.
