About the role

The Lead Support Driver will travel to various locations to fill in for regular route collection drivers, covering vacation, sick leave, or other business needs. While travel is typically within the driver’s region, occasional out-of-region travel may be required. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring diligence and a clear mind, with responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others.

Responsibilities

  • Load, haul, and deliver food waste on intra- and interstate routes with 15–25 stops per day, following company-determined routing.
  • Operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles in compliance with DOT, local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Use manual or electric pallet jacks as needed.
  • Rinse bins and containers with a pressure washer to ensure client locations are clean and debris-free.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections.
  • Use hand tools for basic repairs of company bins and equipment.
  • Maintain truck equipment and overall cleanliness.
  • Utilize the electronic logging system for DOT driver logs and other required documentation.
  • Maintain and submit paperwork, including contamination/service tickets and truck maintenance records.
  • Report all accidents and injuries immediately to the safety manager.

Requirements

  • Class A CDL License (self-certified as a Non-Excepted Interstate driver with the state of issuance).
  • Clean MVR and PSP.
  • Minimum age of 23 with at least 2 years of full-time verifiable tractor-trailer experience, or 21 years of age with 1 year of tractor-trailer experience if a graduate from a Truck Driving School or with 1 year of military experience.
  • Stable work history.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Ability to read, speak, and understand English sufficiently for public communication, traffic signs, official inquiries, and record-keeping.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of Class A driving experience with no accidents or incidents.
  • Strong time management and route consistency.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics (a plus).

Working Conditions

  • Regularly lift, pull, push, bend, stoop, twist, shovel, or reach overhead, with weights up to 70 pounds.
  • Frequently pull or roll up to 300 pounds when working with totes.
  • Exposure to unpleasant odors from food waste or farms.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Compensation & Perks

  • $75 overnight travel pay.
