About the role

The Lead Support Driver travels to various locations to fill in for regular route collection drivers during vacations, sick leave, or other business needs. While travel is typically within the driver’s region, occasional out-of-region travel may be required. This is a safety-sensitive position demanding clear focus and diligence to ensure personal and public safety.

Responsibilities

• Load, haul, and deliver food waste on intra- and interstate routes with 15–25 daily stops, following company-determined routing.
• Operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles in compliance with DOT, local, state, and federal regulations.
• Use manual or electric pallet jacks as needed.
• Rinse bins and containers with a pressure washer to maintain clean client locations.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections.
• Use hand tools for basic repairs of company bins and equipment.
• Maintain truck cleanliness and basic equipment upkeep.
• Use electronic logging systems for DOT driver logs and other required documentation.
• Maintain and submit paperwork, including contamination/service tickets and truck maintenance records.
• Report all accidents and injuries immediately to the safety manager.

Requirements

• Class A CDL License (self-certified as a Non-Excepted Interstate driver).
• Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP) report.
• Minimum age of 23 with at least 2 years of full-time verifiable tractor-trailer experience, or 21 years with 1 year of tractor-trailer experience if a graduate of a truck driving school or with 1 year of military experience.
• Stable work history.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English to converse with the public, interpret traffic signs/signals, respond to inquiries, and complete reports.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5 years of Class A driving experience with no accidents or incidents.
• Strong time management and route consistency.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of hydraulics is a plus.

Working Conditions

• Regularly lift, pull, push up to 70 pounds; bend, stoop, twist, shovel, or reach overhead.
• Pull/roll up to 300 pounds when working with totes.
• Handle unpleasant odors from food waste or farms.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Pay

$72,800 yearly salary.

$75 overnight travel pay | $50/day food allowance | $1,000 annual retention bonus.
