About the role

The Yard Driver is responsible for moving tractor trailers to and from the loading docks and parking loaded or empty trailers in designated areas safely and timely, in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This role involves professional communication with customers, vendors, and co-workers, functioning as a team member, and performing any assigned duties to best serve the company.

Responsibilities

• Performs inspections and moves trailers safely following all DOT regulations and company safe-driving policies.
• Fuels, moves, and parks tractors and trailers to the docks.
• Transports tractor trailers to offsite maintenance and/or inspection facilities; requires local city driving.
• Secures trucks, trailers, and equipment at all times.
• Completes all required documentation.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 6+ months CMV driving experience (internal candidates may qualify with less than 6 months experience and a good performance record in accordance with driver training program requirements).
• Must be able to work the scheduled, assigned times and required overtime for the position.
• CDL-A required.
• Must meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
• Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
• Pass road test.
• Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift (product generally ranges from 10-35 pounds and up to approximately 60-90 pounds, depending on the location).
