LeMay, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a safety-conscious Class A CDL Driver for a long-haul tractor-trailer position based in Centralia, WA. The role involves delivering to Cowlitz County Landfill 3-4 times daily. Previous waste experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Performs complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including checking tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls.
- Drives a Class A truck from LeMay to Cowlitz County Landfill along the I-5 corridor.
- Climbs into and out of the truck at disposal areas and backs into bays at the transfer station.
- Courteously interacts with customers, dispatchers, and supervisors.
- Reads and maintains a tablet in sequential order, follows maps, and services customers as identified on route sheets or as assigned.
- Completes required route/productivity sheets, Vehicle Condition Reports (VCRs), and other forms.
- Performs driver check-in procedures at the end of the day.
- Follows all safety policies and procedures, including attending weekly safety meetings.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Class A CDL with air brakes endorsement.
- Must meet Waste Connections Driver MVR Qualification Standards.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Successfully pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, motor vehicle records check, and Department of Transportation Physical.
- Ability to read and complete necessary paperwork.
- Clear communication with customers, dispatchers, and supervisors.
Work Environment
- Work independently while driving a refuse truck on route.
- Routes must be completed daily in all weather extremes, including hot, cold, wet, or dry conditions.
- Work hours vary by route; shift is Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with frequent overtime and occasional Saturday work.
- Truck may or may not have air conditioning.
- Constant exposure to unpleasant sights and smells.
Pay
Starting pay is $29 per hour.
