Responsibilities
- Take rolls of paper to the corrugator, recording all rolls taken on proper forms.
- Learn to read corrugator lineups. Mark buttrolls based on size, diameter, lineal footage, and grade before returning to stock.
- Unload rolls from trailers and/or rail cars, checking for and noting any physical damage.
- Operate the clamp truck safely. Complete clamp truck inspection report at the start of each shift and submit maintenance work orders for needed repairs.
- Keep warehouse organized and clean. Turn in roll stock tallies to the corrugator supervisor or Scheduling Department.
- Maximize equipment utilization by operating machinery at full capacity and speed. Adhere to daily production schedule and make recommendations for schedule optimization.
- Absorb instructions from supervision and assist the corrugator operator as needed. Assist in starch preparation and viscosity checks. Maintain wastewater treatment facility and monitor inventory levels of starch and chemicals.
- Read MSDS and know proper responses for chemical spills or skin contact. Assist in training of doublebacker and dry end personnel.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Prior work experience in the corrugated industry preferred.
- Prior industrial power truck or heavy equipment operating experience preferred.
- 6 months experience on the wet end of the corrugator.
Qualifications
- Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
- Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
- Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume, and rate.
- Able to apply concepts of high school math.
Skills
- Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities for efficient operation.
- Understanding of product layouts and production specifications.
- Knowledge of product quality specifications and quality standards.
