Claims Reinsurance Analyst
About the role
We are looking for a highly capable Claims Reinsurance Analyst to join our team and work from our Chicago office. We work together in the office five days a week in order to strengthen our culture, build team connections, and drive profitability. The position reports to the VP, Reinsurance Claims and is focused on XOL and Facultative Reinsurance reporting, billing, and collection activities, including URS data validation and reconciliation. This is a 100% in-office position.
Responsibilities
- Handle XOL and Facultative Reinsurance reporting, billing, and collection activities with a direct impact on departmental results.
- Collaborate with Reinsurance Accounting on collection and related issues and URS data validation and reconciliation efforts.
- Secure the timely and accurate settlement of reinsurance claims.
- Track open recoverable balances to ensure timely collection and follow-up.
- Assist with commutation and other strategic efforts.
Qualifications / Experience Required
- Good business acumen (understand how an insurance company works and makes money, including how this role impacts both Argo Group and our customers’ ability to be profitable).
- A practical knowledge of reinsurance accounting, as well as an exceptional customer service focus typically achieved through:
- A minimum of two years of reinsurance accounting experience.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Accounting, Insurance or related degree required. Four additional years of related accounting experience beyond the minimum experience required above may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- Must work independently and demonstrate the ability to exercise sound judgment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build lasting relationships.
- Excellent evaluation and analytical skills required.
- Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize workload while handling multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to articulate the financial value of your work at multiple responsibility levels inside our clients’ business which may include CEO.
- Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.

- Proficient in MS Office Suite and other business-related software (experience with URS Reinsurance Accounting System a plus).
- Polished and professional written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to read and write English fluently is required.
