Claims Consultant - Physicians & Surgeons (Midwest Region)
About the role
We are seeking a seasoned claims handler to join our Physicians & Surgeons team focusing on claims in the Midwest Region. Your responsibilities will include confirming coverage, managing claims and suits, interpreting and resolving coverage issues, selecting legal counsel, managing litigation costs, negotiating, and providing service to insureds.
Responsibilities
- Confirm coverage and manage claims and suits brought against policyholders.
- Analyze and resolve coverage issues.
- Select legal counsel and manage litigation with outside counsel.
- Manage litigation costs, including fees and expenses.
- Post reserves for both loss and ALE.
- Resolve cases through settlement, dismissal, or trial.
- Negotiate with insureds and assist in sales and retention efforts.
Requirements
- A minimum of five years of claim handling experience, preferably in healthcare liability, professional liability, or other liability claims.
- A J.D. (preferred), but may consider candidates with other pertinent industry experience.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Qualifications
While a J.D. is preferred, candidates with relevant industry experience may be considered.

Pay
The annual gross base salary range is $90,000 to $150,000. Actual salaries vary based on qualifications, skills, and competencies.
