Claims Adjuster Trainee - Colchester, VT
This position is available to Veterans, Transitioning Military, National Guard and Reserve Members, Military Spouses, Wounded Warriors, and their Caregivers.
About the role
As a claims adjuster trainee, you’ll learn how to help customers get back on the road after an accident. This is a non-field, phone-based role where you’ll build relationships with customers while resolving a full caseload of claims from start to finish. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment with the support of a collaborative team and ongoing coaching from leaders. Training will cover property damage and insurance contracts to prepare you to adjust claims confidently and independently.
This is a hybrid role for the first 12 months: you’ll work in-office two days selected by local leadership and choose where to work the other three days (home or office). After 12 months, in-office days will vary based on business needs. You must reside within a reasonable commute of Progressive's Colchester, VT Claims office at 150 Watertower Circle, Suite 201, Colchester, VT 05446.
Responsibilities
- Determine coverage
- Determine liability (who’s at fault for the damages)
- Interview customers, claimants, and witnesses
- Partner with appraisers/estimators to manage vehicle repairs
- Negotiate with customers and other insurance carriers and resolve claims
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- Minimum qualifications: Three years of work experience OR Bachelor’s degree OR two years of work experience and an associate degree
Schedule
- Training Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:30pm
- Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm or 9:00am - 6:00pm, based on business needs (evaluated during training)
Pay
- Base salary: $54,000 - $57,500/year
- Annual Gainshare cash incentive: up to XX% of eligible earnings based on company performance
