Claims Adjuster Trainee - Bedford, NH

About the role

As a claims adjuster trainee, you’ll learn how to help customers get back on the road after an accident. This is a phone‑based, non‑field position where you will build relationships with customers, resolve a full case load of claims efficiently, and manage the claims process from start to finish. You will receive in‑depth training on property damage, insurance contracts, and claim adjustment, with ongoing coaching from leaders and support from a collaborative team.

The role is hybrid: you will work in the Bedford, NH office two days per week (selected by local leadership) and have the flexibility to work from home or the office for the remaining three days during a 12‑month period. After that, office attendance will vary based on business needs, and you may choose to work in the office more frequently if preferred. You must reside within a reasonable commute of Progressive’s Bedford, NH claims office at 43 Constitution Dr. Suite 203, Bedford, NH 03110.

Responsibilities

• Determine coverage for claims.
• Determine liability (who is at fault for the damages).
• Interview customers, claimants, and witnesses.
• Partner with appraisers/estimators to manage vehicle repairs.
• Negotiate with customers and other insurance carriers and resolve claims.

Requirements

• Minimum education: High School /GED.
• Three years of work experience OR Bachelor’s degree OR Two years work experience plus an associate degree.
• Ability to reside within a reasonable commute of the Bedford, NH office.

Schedule

• Training schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.
• Work schedule (post‑training): Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm or 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, based on business needs.

Pay

Base compensation ranges from $54,000 to $57,500 per year, with a gainshare annual cash incentive payment of up to 16% of eligible earnings based on company performance. The broader salary range for the role is $45,000 – $60,000.
