About the role
Acts as a specialist by independently handling moderately complex liability matters and applying advanced judgment to evaluate exposure and resolution strategy. Applies highly developed analytical skills to assess facts, coverage, and risk while authorizing appropriate actions within established authority. Provides guidance to internal partners and stakeholders by advising them on best practices, outcomes, and procedural requirements.
Responsibilities
- Manages a portfolio of moderate to higher-complexity liability matters while exercising independent judgment and accountability for outcomes.
- Handles assigned matters by approving actions, authorizing settlements within authority, and ensuring alignment with established guidelines and controls.
- Applies highly developed investigative and analytical skills to evaluate liability, damages, and exposure and determine appropriate resolution strategies.
- Checks and corrects claim documentation, evaluations, and financials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and procedural compliance.
- Executes resolution activities by negotiating outcomes, coordinating required actions, and closing matters efficiently and effectively.
- Coordinates externally by interfacing with claimants, representatives, vendors, and other external parties to gather information and advance resolution.
- Advises and provides guidance to internal partners by consulting on complex issues, interpreting requirements, and recommending courses of action.
- Coaches less experienced staff by sharing expertise, offering feedback, and reinforcing best practices through informal mentoring.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree (can be substituted for experience).
- 8–11 years of relevant work experience (can be substituted for education); 12–14 years preferred.
