Claim Specialist- Energy

As an Energy Claims Specialist, you will manage energy claims within the Oil & Gas, Natural Resources, and Renewable Energy segments involving Commercial General Liability, Contractors Pollution Liability, and/or Professional Liability coverage forms.

About the role

You will work closely with your manager and fellow Claims colleagues to drive files to resolution, collaborating frequently with the Underwriting team. Together, you will achieve the best possible outcomes for AXA XL and its clients by resolving and settling claims proactively.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned claims across multiple jurisdictions and set case strategy in partnership with Claims Legal and Claims management, as warranted.
• Partner with internal and external counsel to set and pursue effective, cost-efficient litigation strategies for litigated claims.
• Coordinate and manage communication with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., underwriting, brokers, reinsurers, external vendors) to ensure the highest level of customer service.
• Consult with Claims management on Large Losses and ensure all steps are taken to achieve the best outcome for the client and AXA XL.
• Document claim activity in our claim system in accordance with Global Claim Handling Principles, including establishing and maintaining appropriate reserves.
• Produce internal reporting and ensure reserves are set according to best practices guidelines.
• Identify, monitor, and report on emerging liability and coverage trends, leading to data-driven success.

You will report to the Claims Manager, Energy & Construction.

Requirements

• Beginner to Intermediate level experience managing general liability claims.
• Experience assessing and managing coverage issues and handling high exposure and complex claims.
• Demonstrated experience negotiating and settling complex claim files.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at various levels.
• Collaborative approach to develop productive working relationships with insureds, brokers, claim handlers, underwriters, and legal counsel.
• Capable of working and collaborating with a virtual team.
• Handle responsibilities with integrity and the highest standards of professionalism.
• Proactive approach to tasks, anticipating needs, and prioritizing multiple work streams without sacrificing quality.
• Intellectual curiosity, willingness to ask questions, and eagerness to learn and improve technical skills.

Significant progression towards insurance or industry-related qualifications is preferred, as is adjuster licensing.

Pay

The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD $83,500 - $145,500. Actual pay will be determined based on skills, experience, and location.
