Claim Specialist- Energy

About the role

The Claims team at AXA XL sets us apart. Our experienced Claims professionals use their specialized expertise to handle even the most complex claims seamlessly. This role involves managing energy claims within the Oil & Gas, Natural Gas, and Renewable Energy segments involving General Liability, Contractors Pollution Liability, and/or Professional Liability coverage forms.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned claims across multiple jurisdictions, setting the case strategy in partnership with Claims Legal and Management, as warranted.
• Partner with internal and external counsel to set and pursue effective, cost-efficient litigation strategies for litigated claims.
• Coordinate and manage communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the highest level of customer service.
• Consult with Claims management on Large Losses and ensure all steps are taken to achieve the best outcome for the client and AXA XL.
• Document claim activity in our claim system in accordance with our Global Claim Handling Principles, including the establishment and maintenance of appropriate reserves.
• Produce internal reporting and ensure reserves are set according to best practices guidelines.
• Identify, monitor, and report on emerging liability and coverage trends, leading to data-driven success.

Requirements

Required Skills and Abilities:

• General Liability claims experience: Beginner to Intermediate level experience managing general liability claims.
• Experience assessing and managing coverage issues and managing high exposure and complex claims.
• Demonstrated experience negotiating and settling complex claim files.
• Excellent Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Able to communicate and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at various levels of sophistication.
• Collaborative approach: Develop productive working relationships with insureds, brokers, claim handlers, underwriters, and legal counsel.
• Capable of working and collaborating with a virtual team.
• Ethics: Handle responsibilities with integrity and the highest standards of professionalism.
• Passion for results: Approach tasks proactively and anticipate needs. Think quickly and prioritize multiple work streams without sacrificing quality.
• Intellectual curiosity: Willing to ask questions and explore new ideas. Eager to learn and focused on continuously improving technical skills.
• Significant progression towards insurance or industry-related qualifications is preferred, as is adjuster licensing.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration).
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant claims handling experience, preferably in the Oil & Gas, Natural Gas, and Renewable Energy sectors.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay

The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD $83,500- $145,500. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual's skills, experience, and location.

Schedule

This role is typically full-time with standard business hours. Remote work may be considered for certain candidates.
