Cladding/Canning Operator (1st shift)

About the role

We are looking for a Cladding and Canning Operator (1st shift: 6am - 2:30pm M-F) for our Plymouth, MI facility.

Responsibilities

  • Blend, mix, cure, screen, and pack clad products.
  • Understand work instructions and product specifications.
  • Select proper screening equipment to maximize yield.
  • Follow product parameters during mixing and curing for a repeatable product to our customers.
  • Comply with all HSE and Quality procedures and policies -- corporate and regulatory.
  • Ensure Oerlikon Five Golden Rules of safety are followed at all times.
  • Investigate and resolve problems affecting HSE, quality, and productivity when required.
  • Maintain proper inventory of materials, supplies, and consumables.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance within scope of responsibility and skills.
  • Maintain and process all production records in a timely manner.
  • Continually improve procedures and equipment for safety, quality, lean behaviors, and productivity.
  • Serve as a resource for leads and team members driving improvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Education: experience may substitute
  • Proficient in Mathematics (Decimals, Fractions, Percentages, Weighted Averages)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office
  • Strong customer focus - internal and external
  • Ability to safely operate cranes, forklift and/or powered industrial vehicles preferred
  • Ability to work a 12-hour shift
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and repetitive movement
  • Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs throughout the shift
  • Comfortable working in an occasionally noisy and dusty environment
