About the role
We are seeking a Civil Trial Attorney to independently manage complex civil litigation matters from case inception through trial and appeal. The ideal candidate will have extensive civil litigation defense, trial practice, legal research, motion practice, discovery, depositions, and courtroom advocacy experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage civil litigation matters from case assessment through verdict, post-trial motions, and appeal.
- Prepare and argue pleadings, motions, motions in limine, discovery responses, and other legal documents.
- Conduct and defend depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
- Perform legal research and analyze applicable laws, regulations, and case precedents.
- Prepare witnesses, evidence, exhibits, and trial strategies.
- Conduct direct and cross-examinations and participate in jury selection.
- Communicate case updates and legal developments to clients.
- Collaborate with clients, experts, witnesses, and legal professionals to develop effective litigation strategies.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in civil litigation defense.
- First-chair experience in jury and bench trials through verdict.
- Strong knowledge of California Evidence Code, California civil and appellate procedures, tort law, public entity law, government tort law, and personal injury law.
- Experience with trial preparation, motions in limine, expert witnesses, depositions, discovery, and litigation strategy.
- Knowledge of California Superior and Federal Court procedures.
- Strong analytical, legal research, writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active California Bar membership.
